— As it works to defend its oldest and biggest advertising account, DraftFCB’s Chicago office has named Todd Tilford as chief creative officer, from executive creative director at New York-based Grey Advertising Inc.

Mr. Tilford will join the agency in early August to replace Rob Sherlock, who has held the post since 2007. The company in March said Mr. Sherlock would move to an international role in the agency.
DraftFCB is defending its global advertising duties for Racine, Wis.-based S. C. Johnson & Son Inc., business that means an estimated $65 million in revenue for DraftFCB and work that’s led out of the Chicago office.
“Todd’s arrival represents a new creative era for Chicago,” says Tom O’Keefe, North American executive creative director for DraftFCB, in a press release.
“He has been both a writer and a design director. He has led digital departments, created brand content and has developed and marketed his own products. On top of all that, Todd’s got strong Midwestern roots, just like this agency.”
Before he joined Grey, Mr. Tilford was a creative consultant for two years and before that he was executive creative director of design for New York-based BBDO. He also was a creative director at Dallas-based TM Advertising of Texas Inc, and co-founder and creative director of Dallas-based Pyro Brand Development LLC. He began his career at Valentine Radford Communications Inc. in Kansas City.
