Petrochemicals – Brazil – Polinox revenues to increase at least 20% in 2010 on growing domestic demand
Brazilian organic peroxide producer Polinox’s revenues are expected to grow 20% this year compared with 2009 as a result of increasing demand from composites consumer markets in Brazil, company director Roberto Pontifex told BNamericas in an emailed response to questions, without providing hard figures.
Polinox produces organic peroxides and mold release waxes used as raw materials in the production of composites.
In August, the company kicked off a capacity expansion at its plant in Itupeva, in Sao Paulo state, boosting output to 280t/month from 230t/m.
“We are not targeting a specific market, but all segments that manufacture composite materials,” Pontifex said.

Brazil’s packaging industry is expected to generate revenues of 40bn reais (US$22.6bn) in 2010, a 10.5% increase compared with 35.4bn reais last year, said economic analysis coordinator at IBRE-FGV, Salomao Quadros, during a conference held in Sao Paulo by national packaging association Abre.
IBRE-FGV is the economics institute of Brazilian think tank Fundaçao Getulio Vargas.
Plastic packaging currently accounts for approximately 37% of the packaging industry’s total revenues, which has risen over the years due to materials such as metals and glass being replaced with plastic, Quadros said.
Packaging industry production volumes grew 16.3% in H1 compared with the same period of 2009.
